Looks like we’re gearing up for our first freeze of 2025! Here are a few quick reminders to help protect your home during the cold snap:
Protect your outdoor water faucets with freeze covers.
Turn off your sprinklers when freezing temps are in the forecast. This helps prevent any damage to your system. It also help mitigate any ice buildup along sidewalks and streets.
If you have a sprinkler smart controller (like Rainbird or B-Hyve) or one with a rain/freeze sensor, you’re good to go—no need to turn it off, as long as the sensor is working properly.
If you have a pool, monitor your system to be sure the freeze guard turns on in below freezing temperatures. This will help prevent pipes from cracking.
And while you’re prepping for the cold, don’t forget to protect any sensitive plants. Bring them inside or cover them with frost cloths or old sheets to shield them from the cold. You can also use mulch around the base of plants to help insulate their roots.
Stay warm, and let’s keep our yards happy through the upcoming winter!
